Yet Another First for Bitcoin

Bitcoin, the popular and misunderstood cryptocurrency has gradually made its way into different aspects of everyday commerce. The first Bitcoin ATM franchise opened this year, and a hundreds of retailers have begun accepting the currency in addition to fiat currency.

Wednesday, Los Angeles-based Ritz Plumbing and Heating became the first plumbing company to accept Bitcoin as a form of payment for customer invoices. Like almost 30,000 other merchants, Ritz is utilizing BitPay for its payment services.

While BitPay is a private company, an IPO is expected from the company within the next two to five years. In the meantime, it is becoming the biggest name in Bitcoin merchant services.
